Their story: Jack and I met at a brewery on July 6th, 2023. It was a Thursday. We had a playful conversation about books, our work, and what brought Jack to America (he’s British and he’d only moved a few months prior!). In response to a mostly silly question about what he was looking for, Jack responded to me, “marriage and a mortgage,”. We went out again that Saturday, that Sunday, and then started spending nearly every day together. As two fairly introverted realists, I think I can speak for both of us when I say that a high speed romance didn’t seem like something that would ever happen to us. The truth is, we fell in love very quickly, and it’s been an incredible blessing.

• What’s your favorite memory together? Jack’s response: a few months into dating, Jack and I went to Hendersonville, NC for a long weekend. I grew up going to NC mountains in the fall, and it was a special trip showing him that. My favorite memory is a rainy Sunday morning a few weeks into knowing each other. We woke up, drank homemade coffee all morning, and sat on our screened in porch at the time. Jack read to me, we talked about our childhoods, the rain was constant but never too heavy to be out there.
