Sunset engagement session at Folly Beach

Brooklyn and Austin’s session was one of those evenings that felt more like spending time with friends than work, and not having to drive too far for the beach. This is honestly the best part of being a Columbia, SC wedding photographer. They met at the very beach where he proposed, which made it extra meaningful to capture their engagement photos in a place tied so closely to their story. What stood out even more than the setting, though, was their deep love for each other and their shared faith. We spent the evening walking along the sand, chatting about their relationship, their love for the Lord, and their excitement for the future, and you could just feel how genuine their bond is.

For me, this session was especially sweet because I’ve known Brooklyn since she was in kindergarten, so getting to be the one to photograph this season of her life was emotional in the best way. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do—capturing not just posed smiles but real joy, laughter, and connection. As I look ahead to their wedding day, I’m reminded of how important it is to choose a photographer who not only knows how to get the right shot but also knows how to tell your story in a way that feels personal.
